Azim Naseer Zia was born in Kabul, Afghanistan on 25th of March, 1949.
1975 joined Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan while still a student. Joined the Mujahideen (Freedom Fighters) in the struggle against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan ( 1981 ). Served as the Representative of the Mujahideen In Islamabad , Pakistan (1981-92) Rejoined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan (April 1992) Served as Charge d’Affaires of Afghanistan in Ankara, Turkey (92-94) Served as Charge d’Affaires of Afghanistan in Rome, Italy (94-96) Joined the anti Taliban campaign for the next 5 years. Heavily involved in the Bonn process and the return of H.M. King Zahir Shah the former King of Afghanistan, to Kabul (2001-2002) Served, on temporary bases, in the office of the former King till the Convention of the Grand Assambly of the People of Afghanistan (Loya Jirga June 2002) Rejoined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan (July 2002) Appointed as Deputy Chief of Protocol Ministry of Foreign Affairs Served as Acting Chief of Protocol till September 2004. Appointed as the first Consul General of Afghanistan to Istanbul, Turkey.
